WSP is looking for witnesses to a shooting on Highway 18

Shots fired at truck April 29 in Auburn

Two suspects shot at a semi truck on Highway 18 in Auburn on April 29. The driver of the truck was not injured, but the Washington State Patrol (WSP) is searching for the suspects.

At approximately 3:55 p.m. on April 29, WSP Communications received 911 calls reporting that two suspects in a passenger vehicle were shooting at a semi on the eastbound 18 Freeway near the exit from Hwy 181 in Auburn. Witnesses told officers the semi may have been carrying a load of lumber.

Witnesses told responding officers that one of the suspects was hanging out the left rear window, firing what appeared to be an AR15-style weapon. The front right passenger was also hanging out the window, firing what appeared to be a gun.

Both suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts, making it difficult to get a description, according to WSP.

Witnesses said the suspect vehicle may have been a light gray Honda hatchback with no license plates, and what appeared to be a temporary registration in the rear window. WSP found and collected canisters at the scene.

This is the 26th shooting investigation the WSP Criminal Investigation Division has handled this year on the King County highway system. Anyone with information should contact Ruth.Medeiros@wsp.wa.gov.
