Two young men arrested after allegedly stealing a car to rob an apartment
The suspects reportedly attempted to steal a stick-shift car, before being unable to operate it.
On August 10, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Renton police were dispatched to a parking lot in the 11100 block of Petrovitsky Rd after two suspects reportedly held a pizza delivery boy at gunpoint and tried to steal their car before they realized it was a manual, which they didn’t know how to operate.
The two suspects reportedly turned their attention to another driver in the parking lot and successfully stole his vehicle at gunpoint.
Less than 30 minutes later, police were dispatched to an armed home invasion. The suspects reportedly entered an apartment through a window and held a young man at gunpoint while stealing items from inside. The suspects then fled in what police say turned out to be the same stolen vehicle from the previous call.
Officers observed the vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed, but did not initiate a pursuit. The two suspects were arrested after they crashed the stolen vehicle into a storage barn in the 900 block of SE Carr Road.
Police say the suspects were juveniles and were booked into King County Juvenile Corrections on multiple counts of burglary, attempted auto theft and theft. Authorities expect more charges to be filed.
