‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ Trailer Breakdown

Marvel and Disney are bending over backwards and digging deep into their roster of characters to bring heroes to the screen and we finally got a look at what will likely be their biggest and longest show yet. She-Hulk: Lawyer which will be released on August 17th.

The obvious connection to the Hulk

As briefly mentioned in the trailer, Jennifer Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin who got his Hulk powers after a blood transfusion. This accident and subsequent transfusion may be shown during the series, but Marvel tends to overlook origin stories sometimes. Bruce is also shown to become a mentor to Jennifer as she tries to get her powers through a series of deadly tests, as well as showing her what she is capable of, they are shown jumping in an unnamed location.

The celebrity of She-Hulk

In the comics and apparently the series as well, Jennifer is able to retain her intelligence while in Hulk form and is comfortable going out while She-Hulk attends red carpet functions in glamorous outfits. He even has to deal with reporters showing up outside his apartment looking for an interview or a photo of She-Hulk. Jennifer even tries to go out as She-Hulk and in one of the trailer’s most memorable scenes, she’s out when her date comments that it’s been one of the best she’s ever been on as the trailer returns to her apartment wearing this man in his bedroom.

The balancing act

Jennifer also has to contend with her day job as a lawyer. The series seems to be setting up her career as the lead attorney at a major law firm specializing in superpowered humans. It’s unclear whether he’s prosecuting or defending these people, but it’s implied that one of his clients will be Emil Blonsky, aka Abomination, who first appeared in 2008. The Incredible Hulk and reappeared in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It’s unknown what Blonsky has been up to in the years since his first appearance, but hopefully that will be addressed during the series. Benedict Wong is also confirmed to reprise his role as Wong for the series, but it is unknown if he will be an ally of She-Hulk or continue as Abomination’s fighting partner.

Possible appearance of other heroes

After Charlie Cox’s surprise cameo as Matt Murdock/Daredevil Spider-Man: No Way Home, there has been speculation as to whether more characters from the other Marvel Netflix series will join the larger MCU. Cox is rumored to be appearing as well She-Hulk but it’s also possible that Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones could make a cameo which would make sense since Jones is a private investigator who might be working with Walters on a case. With the recent announcement that reckless will receive a continuation on Disney +, Marvel is finally rewarding the patience of fans and the expectations that the heroes of Netflix will continue in some way. Marvel president Kevin Feige also confirms that She-Hulk will also make future film appearances in the MCU, but which ones are unknown as no films have been announced beyond the current slate of films of phase 4.
